LIVE! Sleeper Update

DJ Ferguson 5-11 Florida Falcons 2007

We first noticed DJ (pictured) yesterday, while we would glance at the next court over during dead balls of the Georgia Blazers game. DJ doesn’t look like your typical Division 1 point guard, but don’t let the looks fool you, cause the kid has game. He is a very solid point guard that takes care of the ball, has great court vision, and hits open shots. Only one college, James Madison, had staff in attendance for his game tonight, and they couldn’t stop talking about this sleeper, either. He scored 16 first half points and finished with 20 for the game even though he didn‘t play most of the second half. His team won 93-56.

Raysean Hairston 6-5 Carolina Force 2007

We caught the last couple minutes of Carolina Force’s night game, and Raysean Hairston looks to be a player. He is a good athlete, and had 3 dunks in the closing minutes of the game. We spoke to Carolina Force’s coach, Ira Shaw, after the game and he said that Raysean hasn’t received any scholarship offers yet, and that “he is just looking for a place to play” on the next level. Raysean finished with a game high 22 points in that game. He’s a player that every low to mid Division 1 coach should take a peek at.

Kenard Gibson 6-4 Grand Stand’s Finest 2008

Kenard is a slasher, that knows how to take his man off the dribble and get into the lane. He drew a lot of fouls in the game we watched and finished a couple of “and 1’s”. Wanted the ball at the end of a close game, and finished with 19 points.

Romel Kemp 6-6 Grand Stand’s Finest 2007

Long forward that can hit the midrange jumper. We saw him finish the break, including one nice pump fake-to finger roll. Scored 17 points.
