"One On One" with Wally Judge

Wally Judge a 6'8 SF from Arlington Country Day(FL) and the 31st ranked player in HoopsReport's 2009 rankings took the time to talk to us about Kansas St., coach Frank Martin, his goals for the future and more in this edition of "One On One".
Hoopsreport: Wally, you have committed to play college ball for Frank Martin and the Kansas St. Wildcats so what were some of your reasons for picking the Wildcats over other schools that were pursuing you?
Wally Judge: "I picked K-State because when I went out there I just felt like I was at home. Like I just fit in and they had been after me from day one and they stayed loyal."
What is Coach Martin like?
"He's a cool guy and I like how intense he is in practice."
How did your junior season go at Arlington Country Day and what were your stats?
"It went great for me considering I only played half the year. We won state and I think my stats were an average of about 17 points and 11 rebounds."
The summer AAU circuit is upon us and you are running with D.C. Assault. What big tournaments are you and your team attending this summer and which events do you look forward to most?
"I look forward to all of them. I love to just get out there and play."
What player would you compare your game to?
"I would say that I play like Melo without the range of the jumper but I'm working on that (laughing)."
Who is the best player you've ever played against?
"My brother because he taught me everything I know and I love how much emotion he plays the game with."
Who is your favorite NBA team and player?
"The Wizards and my favorite players are Carmelo and Dwight Howard."
If you had to rank the top 5 players in the 2009 class what would your rankings look like?
"Lance (Stephenson), Rodney McGruder, Derrick Favors, Dexter Strickland, and Demarcus Cousins."
What are some of your goals for this summer and your upcoming senior season at Arlington Country Day?
"Win the rest of our tournaments and win state again."
In your opinion who do you think is going to win the NBA Finals?
"I want New Orleans to win."
What do you feel are some of the strengths of your game and what areas of your game do you feel you need to continue to work hard on to improve?
"I feel that I attact the basket well and I need to work on finishing wih my left hand."
Do you have any other hobbies besides basketball?
"No, (basketball) is my life."
Do you have any nicknames and if so how did you get them?
"My coach from high school gave me the name 'The Honor' and one of my AAU coaches gave me the name 'Big Ticket' after Kevin Garnett."
What do you feel is the biggest accomplishment in your basketball career so far?
"Winning state, but there is still more I want to accomplish."
Who is the bigges role model in your life and why?
"My cousin Bruce because he helped me get to where I am now."
You are ranked #31 in HoopsReport's 2009 rankings. How do you feel about your ranking and what do you think you can do to move up the charts?
"That's great that you think of me that high, I know I can be higher but all I can do is keep playing my game and playing to win; not to impress."
Is there anything else the fans out there should know about Wally Judge?
"I'm just like a normal kid."
