One on One with Tamir Jackson

We recently caught up with St. Benedict's guard Tamir Jackson, one of the top juniors in New Jersey, and he talked to us about his recruiting situation, the upcoming NCAA Tournament, Jay-Z, Allen Iverson, and girls.  All this and more in the latest edition of One on One.

Hoops Report: Tamir, what colleges are you considering at the moment?
TJ: "UAB, Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Houston, Harvard, Penn, Rhode Island, St. John's, Arizona, and Ohio State."

HR: Do you have any favorites?
"No."

HR: What team do you root for during the college basketball season?
"North Carolina."

HR: Who do you think is going to win the NCAA tournament?
"North Carolina."

HR: What are going to be some of the main factors when it comes time to
choose the right college?
"The coach to player relationship and playing time."

HR: What do you look for in a college coach?
(I look for him) "to be truthful.  And to be hard on me and make me want to work harder."

HR: What is it like playing for such a storied program (St. Benedict's) and having guys on your team like Samardo (Samuels) and Greg (Echenique)?
"It is great and it makes my job so much easier."

HR: How is your junior season at St. Benedict's going and what are
your stats?
"My junior season is going great, but I don't have the stats."

HR: What do you feel is the biggest accomplishment in your basketball
career so far?
"Winning MVP on ESPN. (Tamir led St. Benedict's with 29 points in their 68-62 win over Oak Hill that was televised live on ESPN)."

HR: What player or players would you compare your game to?
"Chris Paul, Allen Iverson, Sam Cassell, and Jamaal Tinsley."

HR: Who is your favorite NBA team and player?
"Denver Nuggets and Allen Iverson"

HR: Who is the best player you've ever played against?
"Tyreke Evans."

HR: Nike, Adidas, or Reebok?
"Adidas."

HR: Do you have any nicknames?
"Pop, and Jerzee Bucketz."

HR: Who is the biggest role model in your life and why?
"My Mother and Father because they are there for me and tell me the truth all the time."

HR: Is there anything else fans out there should know about Tamir Jackson?
"like to shop, go out, and I love to chill with girls."

HR: Shout Outs?
"My family and my boys.  And all of Paterson and Passaic, and the class of '09 at St. Benedict's."
