One on One with Murphy Holloway

By: James Mulcahy
Murphy Holloway, a top-25 junior nationally, has sent us an updated list of schools recruiting him which includes the Kansas Jayhawks who have just recently offered the 6'7 small forward a scholarship. Holloway's list of offers now includes: Kansas, South Carolina, Clemson and Auburn. Holloway says he's getting alot of interest from Tennesse, Florida and North Carolina.
Holloway is an excellent athlete that can play away from the basket in addition to down low. His jumper is good to midrange and he knows how to attack the basket. He excels in transition and is a good finisher. He was among the top underclassmen at both Nike Camp and Peach Jam.
We put together some questions to ask Holloway and here are his responses:
Why is Kansas the leader in your recruitment? "Kansas is the leader because of their coaching and their style of play"
How do you feel about your #22 ranking in HoopsReport's 08 class? "I feel OK about being #22 but i will always work to be #1"
Do you feel like your talented enough to play for any big time college program? "I think I'm talented enough, but there is room for more work. The college i really want to go to is North Carolina, but no offers only letters"
What's going to be the biggest factor when it comes to your decision on a college? "When i choose my college I want to know that the school cares about me as a student and a basketball player and the city it's in is important so my family can come and see me play on a regular basis"
