One on One With K.C. Miller

We recently caught up with top-5 freshman K.C. Miller, a 6’0 point guard from De Soto (TX) God’s Academy, and he gave us the latest on his recruiting situation and much more.
Miller is playing AAU ball with Team Texas (17U) this summer after leading Team TG Adidas to three AAU National Championships in his middle school days.
He is already receiving attention from top programs across the country. Schools that have already offered a scholarship to the phenom from Texas include Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Baylor, Texas A&M and UAB. Kentucky, Texas, Kansas, Villanova, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Clemson, Michigan and Penn St. have all expressed a high level of interest.
HR: How did your freshman season at God's Academy go and what were your stats?
KC: “I think it went pretty good. I had a couple of exciting moments. I averaged 20.1ppg, 9.6asst, 3.0stls, and 4.3rebs.”
What was your best game of the year?
“I don’t know it’s hard to say. You would have to ask somebody else because, I’m always hard on my self.”
How do you feel about your #5 ranking in Hoops Report's 2010 class?
“Oh it’s alright because, I realized that as long as your top 5 or somewhere around that you can go to any college you want to and that’s what matters to me.”
Who is the best player you’ve ever played against?
“I don’t know about best player ever but this year I would say Jai Lucas, Anthony Randolph, or DeAndre Jordan because, they are all top 15 players in the country and Jai Lucas was a McDonalds All American.”
Who is your favorite college basketball coach?
“Billy Gillespie and Lute Olsen.”
Who was your favorite college basketball team growing up?
“Arizona, North Carolina, and Maryland were. Salim Stoudamire, Joseph Forte, and Juan Dixon were my favorite players."
If someone asked you to rank the top 5 players in this ‘07 class what would your rankings look like?
“1. Mike Beasley or O.J. Mayo 2. Eric Gordon 3. Derrick Rose 4. Kevin Love 5. Jerryd Bayless.”
When it comes time for you to choose a college to play ball at what will be some of the things that will factor in to your decision?
"How the coaching is, the team chemistry, the history of the school, and stuff like that.”
Who is the biggest role model in your life and why?
“My mom and dad, my mom because, she always encourages me when I need it and my dad because, he is the one who taught me everything."
Is it hard to stay grounded when your one of the top basketball players in the country?
“No not really because, I’m a humble person so I look as my self as an average person, so I wont ever get bigheaded.”
What player or players would you compare your game to?
“People say I play like Dwayne Wade the way I can get to the basket and finish.”
Who is your favorite NBA player?
“Kobe Bryant!”
Nike, Adidas, or Reebok?
“I like Adidas but I have to Nike because, one my coach would kill me if I said Adidas lol and plus Nike has more shoes. Oh yeah and they have Jordan, Melo, and Kobe. Lol.”
What are some of the goals you want to accomplish before your high school career is over?
“The main one is that when it comes time for me to graduate I can look back and say, that I know I did my best and there wasn't anything I could or wanted to do better.”

“I want to make a shout out to my Grandma who just past away two days ago. (R.I.P. Grandma).”
