One on One with Anthony Randolph
By: James Mulcahy
LSU has enjoyed success in recent years, signing guys like Tyrus Thomas, Glenn Davis, and Tasmin Mitchell. They have inked their newest stud in the class of 2007 with Anthony Randolph. We recently caught up with the top-10 prospect in this edition of One on One.
Randolph is long and skinny, and uses his length to block shots and finish dunks. He is very skilled at 6-10, and can score from the perimeter or close to the hoop. He runs the court as well as any big man in the country and can handle the ball in transition. He has the ability to create his own shot and can hit jumpers away from the basket. In Woodrow Wilson's recent win over Thomas Jefferson, Randolph scored 39 points.
He has tremendous upside as an NBA prospect (think Kevin Durant).
What made you decide to play ball at LSU?
“Pretty much the whole atmosphere and everybody around it, me and my family sat down and talked about it and it seemed it was the right fit for me.”
What is Coach Brady like?
“He is tough, he pushes you to the next level and it pays off at the end…I am very proud of him to be my coach, he taught me the real fundamental of the game.”
How do you feel about your #8 ranking in Hoops Report’s 2007 class?
“I feel like I’m on top of the map, but I know I am blessed for being up there… it’s an honor to be up there with all the other elites.”
What do you feel like your role will be next year with LSU?
“Whatever is best for the team…and I hope I can make an impact and take em to the next level.”
What NBA player do you most compare your game to?
“Kevin Garnett no doubt…the midrange game and inside game with the explosiveness.”
What do you feel the strengths of your game are?
“My ability to see down the court and my quickness and ability.”
How is your senior season going?
“It’s going good…so good.”
