Gbinije's Stock on the Rise

Within 12 months, Michael Gbinije has gone from a virtual unknown to one of the hottest young players in the country. Gbinije, a 6'5 sophomore from Richmond, Virginia , made his national debut last year at the Elite 75 Prep Showcase and quickly grabbed some attention. Two weeks later, he logged in another strong performance at the All South Frosh/Soph showcase in Atlanta, GA and the buzz became even louder.

Gbinije made a return trip to the Elite 75 showcase in Gastionia, NC last weekend and quickly established himself as one of the top two prospects at the event. In terms of his performance last week, Gbinije is a highly skilled wing who was always in attack mode, as he tried to dunk everything he got his hands on. Gbinije handled the ball well in the open court and went coast-to-coast and finished with a slam on several different occasions. Gbinije is not just a slasher though, he can also knock down the open shot.

With standout performances this summer on the travel circuit with the Richmond Squires and Triple Threat, in addition to elite showcase events such as Reebok U, Gbinije has caught the eye of a number of high major programs.....
