Xavier Henry to Remain at Kansas

By: Brett Blevins
Jodie Meeks decided to stay in the NBA draft. There is your curveball. Being selected 41st overall by the Milwaukee Bucks was enough to entice UK's all-time single game leading scorer to enjoy professional riches.
But this was also the reason for Xavier Henry to rethink his decision to attend Kansas. Now, he could go play for the coach he wanted to play for. Now, he could go pursue playing with the greatest recruiting class in history.
Only one thing deterred him. The beck and call of his mother. Lexington was too far away the first time, and it was the second time around as well. Henry would never be able to wear Wildcat blue and white along side Wall and Orton. It was never meant to be.
In the end, I'm sure the Wildcats will be just fine without Mr. Henry. In fact, it may allow the Commonwealth to see more of the John Wall and Eric Bledsoe show on the floor at the same time. The best player in America, paired with the #3 point guard in the class of 2009, may not only start together, but they will cause major problems for opposing defenses.
Adding Xavier Henry may have only added to the logjam of talent at the University of Kentucky. The Wildcat's roster, although inexperienced and unfamiliar with each other, is at least 10 deep. Not to mention, that taking on the Kansas commit would have taken on a life of its own. Maybe it's for the better that Xavier decided to stick with Kansas. Only time will tell if mother truly knows best.
