Vargas in Lexington

By: Brett Blevins
Eloy Vargas is an extremely talented 6'10 forward who played the past season at Miami Dade C.C. Dade is the same school that produced current Memphis player Will Coleman and Kentucky's Darnell Dodson, both signed by John Calipari.
Vargas appears to be the next Dade product that will sign with Coach Cal. Eloy is currently visiting Kentucky's campus after postponing a visit to Seattle. The other school involved with Vargas is Arizona, and they are thought to be out of the picture.
Kentucky has officially offered a scholarship and Vargas could decide as soon at this weekend. Considering that the other two schools involved have "dropped out", Kentucky is the clear cut favorite to add to their 2010 class. The addition of Vargas should give Kentucky the nation's best recruiting class for the 2nd consecutive year!
Scout's Take
Eloy is an extemely long and athletic 6'10 forward. He is a tremendous shot blocker who runs the floor well for a big man. Being two years removed from high school has allowed him to add weight and strength that he needed coming out in 2008. One of our favorite attributes Eloy possesses is his motor. Combine his length with the energy that he plays with and you have an NBA type talent.
