Tuesday Buzzer Beaters:

COMMITMENT! Jorddan Myrick has committed to Central Michigan, according to ChippewasInsider.com. The newest Chippewa is a 5-10 point guard in the class of 2011. Myrick’s first scholarship offer was courtesy of the Chippewas and he rewarded them by taking a recent unofficial visit. This is the first 2011 commitment for head coach Ernie Zeigler.

COMMITMENT! TexasHoops.com is reporting that Joseph Young has committed to Providence. Joseph is the son of former University of Houston standout and “Phi Slama Jama” member, Michael Young. The younger Young is a 6-2 shooting guard and committed to the Friars after taking an unofficial visit there this past weekend.

COMMITMENT! Davis Martens will be joining the Siena basketball squad for the 2009 season, according to a Siena press release brought to our attention by Recruitrecon.com. Here is the report via their website: Martens, a 6-9 forward from Cologne, Germany, will have freshman eligibility this season. The NCAA has ruled that Martens will have to sit out the first 12 games of the 2009-10 season because he competed as an amateur with professionals while playing overseas.

COMMITMENT! Rutgers has added Muhamed Hasani , a 6′2 G from Prischtina, Kosovo, to their 2009 class, according to the Star-Ledger (NJ) and NBEBasketball.com. NBE speculates that the commitment could be in order to fill the void left by the recent release of former Rutgers guard Corey Chandler.

We previously passed on some information to you guys that 2012’s top big man AndreDrummond had made an unofficial visit to Providence’s campus. Zag’s Blog recently had a discussion with Jere Quinn, Drummond’s high school basketball coach at St. Thomas More (CT), and reports that Drummond is receiving some heavy early interest from Connecticut.

Quinn’s St. Thomas More (CT) team also features recent West Virginia commit ByronAllen. According to Quinn, Allen remains wide open but is receiving interest from Maryland and George Washington at this point. Standing 6-3 and being described best as a combo guard, Allen was getting interest from schools such as Connecticut, Georgetown, Notre Dame and a few different ACC teams. Looks like Maryland is the only former suitor to have jumped back into the mix since he left the Mountaineers.

Lebrent Walker, who has the potential to be one of the top prospects in the 2012 class, will be taking his talent outside of the state of New York, according to NYCHoops.net. In order to try to maximize his full potential, Walker will be taking his game to Montrose Christian (MD). According to Walker, he is receiving early interest from Washington, St. John’s, Providence and Kentucky.

Andre Stringer is down to Alabama, LSU, USC and Miami, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com. Stringer is a 5-10 point man from the class of 2010.

Joey Gripper has a top 5, according to Recruitrecon.com. The 2011 point guard likes La Salle, St. Bonaventure, Drexel, Davidson and Harvard. Northeastern, Pennsylvania, St. Joseph’s and Kent State are also involved.

The “Battle of the Classes,” which is hosted by Elite 75 Prep, will be taking place at the University of South Carolina campus on September 12th. Three games will be played between the top 72 prospects in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 classes of South Carolina and North Carolina’s high schools. The 1st time event will also have a 3-point shooting contest and dunk contest. Click here for more information and rosters, which should be posted soon.
