Thornton to Take Additional Visits

By: Brett Blevins
Marcus Thorntonis a rapidly improving 6'7 forward still looking for a college home. In the mix for the athletic wing are the likes of Georgia Tech, Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Kentucky, Texas, and Michigan.
Thornton just returned from his visit at Alabama where he got to speak to football coach Nick Saban and the school president Dr. Robert Whitt.
Here is what Marcus had to tell the AJC after the visit when asked about Anthony Grant, "I was very impressed by Coach Grant and his overall approach to the program. He created a family-like environment, and seemed like a coach that anyone would want to play for.”
Kentucky, Georgia, and Georgia Tech are all expected to get visits in the upcoming weeks as well. Thornton wasn't as sure about visiting Michigan, although that is still a possibility as well.
All 6 schools on his list besides Georgia Tech have had an in-home visit. Thornton visited Georgia Tech since it is close in distance.
Every school involved with Thornton has offered at this point, including additional offers from the likes of Auburn, UTEP, and a few others. Thornton was originally committed to Clemson, before being released from his LOI when Oliver Purnell was replaced by Wright St.'s Brad Brownell.
Memphis and Tennessee are also said to be getting involved late in the process.
Thornton has not named a leader at this point in his recruitment.
