Rivers With a Change of Heart?

By: Brett Blevins
Today Austin Rivers (class of 2011) told the Orlanda sentinel:
"I've been following Duke really closely in the [ NCAA] tournament and I love the way they set screens and give so much freedom to [Kyle] Singler and [Jon] Scheyer," Rivers said. "I've always loved the way Florida plays. I've been watching Kentucky and the way [coach John] Calipari let his guys go, which is great. Texas really lets their guards play.
"I'm not going to be as busy with basketball as I've been in the past. I'm going to take the time to make my body bigger and stronger and to make this decision. By the time school starts back [in August], I think I'll know where I want to go."
Does this indicate a new interest in the Wildcats? At the end of July, Rivers told us at Hoopsreport.com that he had absolutely no interest in coming to UK and didn't care for the area of Lexington much. He also mentioned style of play as a concern. I took that as he may not have known (how could you not have) that Billy Gillispie was no longer the coach but instead it was John Calipari with his high octane Dribble Drive Motion attack.
I still believe Duke, North Carolina, and Florida lead for his services, but the positive mention of the Wildcats means they are at least on the young guard's radar now.
