JUCO PG chooses Tennessee

HoopsReport.com reported last Thursday that Tennessee had extended a scholarship offer to junior college gaurd Bobby Maze, who was being recruited as Ramar Smith's replacement in the Vols' backcourt.

And today while on a visit to the school, Maze accepted that scholarship offer and became the fifth member of Tennessee's stellar 2008 recruiting class, which already includes Scotty Hopson, Philip Jurick, Daniel West and Renaldo Woolridge.

Maze was a starting point guard for Oklahoma as a college freshman, but parted ways with the Sooners in April of last year.  He then transferred to Hutchinson Community College where he was an All-American this past season after averaging close to 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds per game.

The 6’3 playmaker committed to Maryland in December, but Terps coach Gary Williams recently withdrew the scholarship offer, giving Tennessee and others the green-light to re-enter the picture.

Maze was also being recruited by Kentucky, Cincinnati and St. John's.
