Ryan Boatright Helps Propel D1E Derrick Rose All-Stars

By: Brett Blevins

Ryan Boatright, listed at 6'2, but more realistically 5'10, played extremely well in a matchup against Fab Melo's Florida Rams.  I overheard one scouting service tell Coach Jim Boeheim from Syracuse that #1 was Tracy Abrams and was committed to Illinois.  In the program it said Abrams, but that is why you can't always trust the books from AAU events.  In fact, the dynamic guard wearing #1 was Boatright showing why Tim Floyd wanted him so bad at USC.

Boatright, now uncommitted, shoots the ball extremely well and kept finding himself open for the 3ball, which he buried.  He also got out in transition and showed great speed and some nice finishes.  I caught up with him as he was checking out the D1E 15U team, and Boatright said he is totally wide open now.  After the decommittment he plans on taking it slow and figuring things out after July.  No visits are planned as of now.  If coaches and some scouting services don't know Boatright, they will after this month.

Got a chance to check back in and watch Fab Melo.  Fab struggled a bit in this game, getting poked in the eye, and missing a few bunnies.  He stills displayed some of the skills at his great size that have major programs drooling.  Look for him to become a hot commodity.

We didn't get a chance to catch up with Casey Prather, because his team was eliminated this morning by DC Assault.  But we've heard glowing reviews of Ge'lawn Guyn's performances running the point for Indiana Elite.  Ge'lawn has been in double figures every game and has ran the team nicely, rarely committing a turnover.  Ge'lawn looked great transitioning to the point position in the little bit we saw against the New England Playaz
