Recruiting News and Notes

By: Brett Blevins
Cory Joseph wants to cut his list to about 5 by the end of the summer. Joseph 6'3 PG is being recruited by the likes of Minnesota, Memphis, Louisville, Texas, Kansas, Ohio State, Texas A&M along with a host of other high major schools. Style of play and relationship with the coaching staff will play a key part in his decision.
Michael Gilchrist 6'7 SF, and one of the top prospects in 2011 says Seton Hall, Florida State, Kentucky, Memphis, Louisiana State, and Villanova are recruiting him the hardest.
CJ Leslie 6'8 SF claims offers from Maryland, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Florida, Memphis, and Tennessee. He will be looking to visit Kentucky in the summer and cut his list as well.
Casey Prather 6'5 SF has offers from Clemson, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Alabama, Memphis, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. He is also receiving interest from North Carolina, Florida, and Marquette. Key factors in his decision include player development, relationship with coaches, and academics. Casey would like to go to a school with a solid Physical Therapy program. One additional note is that he has not heard from the new staff at Kentucky. He does however speak with incoming UK freshman Jon Hood and would be open to hearing from the Wildcats.
Adreian Payne 6'9 C said that his UK visit went well. He enjoyed getting to know the coaching staff and getting to spend time on campus in Lexington. His list includes a bunch of schools, but he would like to cut it to 8 schools or so by the end of the summer.
Fab Melo 7'0 C lists Syracuse, Louisville, Florida State, Florida, Duke, and Georgetown as his short list. Immediate playing time as a freshmen is what Fab is looking for most.
