Players Make Noise at Top 100

By: Brett Blevins

Thursday Night Games

Spurs 91 Jazz 86

JT Terrell led all scorers with 26 points.  He scored off the catch, off the bounce, and in transition.  He is showing that his Pangos Camp performance was no fluke.  The kid can flat out put the ball in the basket.

Fab Melo continues to impress with his great hands and touch around the basket.  He is very skilled with his back to the basket and has shown the ability to knock down an open jumper out to 20 feet.  Fab lists Louisville, Florida St., Florida, Duke, and Georgetown as the schools he is looking at right now.  He would like to go where he can get significant minutes as a freshmen, and judging by his performance he will no matter where he suits up.

Stacey Poole's stock is on the rise after breakout performances Thursday and Friday.  His ability to run the floor has led to easy buckets for himself and his teammates.  His slashing style has been hard for other teams to stop.  Stacey has also shown the ability to knock down the jumper.  He will be moving up in the next set of rankings.

Rockets 78 Hornets 75

JayVaughn Pinkston scored 12 points to lead the Rockets to victory.  Pinkston is a big body 6'6 235 that can move.  He has a decent handle and was able to get to the rim on the break and use his body to finish.  He has some polishing to do to his game but he is a very intriguing prospect.

Joe Jackson scored 16 in a losing effort.  His quickness combined with his length allow him to get in the lane and finish over taller defenders.  He is also making an attempt to guard more than other players at the camp.  His frame can support more weight.  Look for him to be ranked high at the PG position in our next rankings.

Magic 93 Lakers 79

Tristan Thompson added 14 points in the Magic win.  The kid is super strong and knows how to finish around the basket.  He along with Fab Melo and Rakeen Christmas have been the 3 best big men at the camp.

Evan Smotrycz has shown a grown up game at the Top 100.  He can score inside and outside.  After knocking down a few jumpers the past two days, he has scored off pump fakes due to the added attention.  At 6'9 he causes a few mismatches on the perimeter.  He scored 13 in the loss to lead his team.

Celtics 86 Cavs 74

Tyler Lamb, Juwan Staten, and Nate Lubick have been dominating for the Celtics.  Lamb is a deadly shooter with athleticism to boot.  Staten has looked at times like the best point guard at the camp.  Staten can shoot the 3, pull-up jumper, and get to the rim.  He is extremely quick and has good strength.  Lubick has sent in some impressive finishes including a posterization of Fab Melo.  He plays with good energy and has been outworking people on the backboard.

Brandon Knight has looked solid but not totally into the flow of camp yet.  Scary though, when you consider he is leading the camp in scoring at the moment.  His size at the point guard position is a matchup nightmare.  He is so strong he can get to any point on the floor he wants with the ball.  He is also a good rebounder and defender.  Look for special things from him in the future.

Rakeem Christmas (2011) has shown a variety of skills.  He is a tremendous shotblocker that has great length.  He has shown a few power post moves with dropstep dunks but has also hit turnaround jumpers.  He has a high motor and should be up at the top of the 2011 big man rankings.

Pistons 117 Hawks 90

Will Barton stole the show in this blowout with spectacular finishes on runouts against a Hawks team that appeared to give up.  Barton is extremely skinny and long but does not play soft in the least bit.  He attacks the basket with tenacity and can shoot it from the outside.

Equally impressive has been Noah Cottrill.  Noah has been the best shooter at the camp so far and has held his own defensively.  Noah is also a good passer who found Barton on a lob off the glass in the second half.
