Peach Jam's Friday Action

N. Augusta, SC- There were a lot of guys that caught our attention at Peach Jam on Friday, but no player was better than 6’1 rising-sophomore Kendall Marshall (pictured).

Boo Williams vs. Metro Hawks

This was the most hyped game of the event so far because it was a chance to see two of the nation’s top big men, Ed Davis (BW) and Samardo Samuels (MH), go head-to-head, and the game lived up to the hype as both players played like they had something to prove.  In the end, Samuels won the individual battle, but Davis’s Boo Williams squad got the W.

Samuels was a beast in the post as he dunked his way to 21 points and held Davis to just 8.

The star of the game, however, wasn’t a big man, it was Boo Williams’ 6’1 point guard Kendall Marshall.  Marshall nailed four 3-pointers early in the game and that set the tone as he controlled the rest of the contest with his ball handling, passing and scoring.  With 18 seconds left and his team up by two points, Marshall went to the line and sank a pair of free throws to make it a two possession game and that turned out to be the difference as his team won 64-63.  The young floor general finished with 28 points to lead all scorers.  He is making a strong case as the best guard prospect in the 2010 class.

Other Noteworthy Performances

6’7 Lance Goldbourne of Team Final was a top player at the Lebron James US Skills Academy last week and he has continued his strong play at Peach Jam.  He scored 29 points in a game last night against the Charlotte Royals.

6’4 rising junior Leslie McDonald scored 24 points to help his Memphis YOMCA squad hand Team Texas their first loss of the tournament.

6’3 Willie Warren is on-pace to break the Peach Jam scoring record.  On Thursday Warren scored 33 points against Howard Pulley and dropped 45 on Mean Streets, and yesterday he scored 25 against Houston Hoops and finished with 35 against Memphis YOMCA.
