More News and Notes from Day1 of the Adidas it Takes 5ive tournament

The second annual Adidas it Takes 5ive Classic kicked off today on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. The second year event, which was designed to bring together Adidas' top travel programs, played host to over 80 teams in three age divisions. Once again many of the nations top college coaches were in attendance for the beginning of the July evaluation period.
The U-17 division featured the Atlanta Celtics who are led by top ranked Derrick Favors and they ran into serious trouble in their opening round game against the All-Ohio Force. The Force are led by Dayton commit, 6'10 Matt Kavanaugh. In the contest the Force fought back a serious charge from the Celtics led by Favors and Golden to claim a four point victory.
Texas Select's Shawn Williams relentlessly attacked the basket against both the All-Ohio Force and the Atlanta Celtics to the tune of 33 and 30 points, respectively and put in one of the top individual performances of day one.
All-Ohio Red, the top team in the U-16 division dodged a bullet in pool play as they held of the upset minded Carolina Raptors. At one point in the game All-Ohio Red was down 20 points before Ohio St. bound Jared Sullinger put the team on his back and went to work in the post. Although Sullinger deserves most of the credit for the comeback (25pts), Jordan Sibert a 6'4 WF from Cincy was also a key contributor. Doing most of the damage for the Raptors were 6'8 PF Melvin Tabb and 6'0 PG Emanuel chapman.
The #1 seeded Ohio Basketball Club finished pool play 2-0 with convincing wins over the Georgia Netburners(57-43) and the Carolina Raptors. Stevie Taylor finished with a game high 15pts in the opening game and Chane Behanan went on a dunk spree in game two and finished with 15pts. OBC also got key contributions from Marshall University commit Chase Fischer, Jehvon Clarke and Perry Henry.
