Fab Frosh Saturday Recap

By: Brett Blevins
Others playing well on Saturday:
Drekalo Clayton6'5 F Orlando, FL
Clayton is an impressive looking kid at 6'5 225. He has shown a variety of skills along with a decent looking perimeter/face-up game. Righty hook is his go-to-move with his back to the basket, and it is effective. The last game tonight he just gobbled up the defensive glass. He is a name to keep an eye on.
Jordan Neff 6'5 F Kennesaw, GA
More of a wing forward, at an extremely long 6'5, Jordan has played well. He is a lefty with high basketball IQ, who routinely finds offensive rebounds with his length. He runs the floor well and can catch and finish in transition.
Alex Foster 6'7 F Plainfield, IL
Illinois recently offered the big lefty from Plainfield. His jumper has been off for most of the camp, but Foster still oozes with potential. He has a good base of skills. I'm not big on comparisons but think of a Lamar Odom type lefty 3/4 man. He will post and step out. Foster can put it on the deck and is a good passer.
Austin Nichols6'6 F Collierville, TN
Another long, thin 6'6 forward, Nichols has stood out with his combination of good athleticism and touch from 8-12 feet. He is a good offensive rebounder and solid player. He gives good effort and will be a high-major forward with a 2-3 more inches.
Tony Farmer 6'6 F East Cleveland, OH
Farmer is an impressive, raw athlete. He has long arms and has good strength. He is active on the backboard and has potential through the roof. He projects more as a wing and hasn't showed much post game. He will step out and hit a jumpshot 18 feet and in.
Larry Morton 6'3 G Lexington, KY
One of three KY kids in the event, Morton has played aggressive. He is very strong and has showed a knack for getting to the basket and the foul line. He looks to attack on the break. Look for him to develop into a combo guard when projecting to college.
Nick Wells 6'5 F Akron, OH
If I had to pick one kid as the hardest worker at the camp, I would choose Wells. If you ask some of the other forwards who they least liked to play against, I would be they'd say Wells. He is a constant worker, whether that be fighting for post position or going to the backboard. His biggest problem has been scoring over length, but he hasn't let that slow down his relentless style. Not the most beautiful game, but you can win with a player like Wells.
Keith Frazier 6'4 G Irving, TX
Keith runs the floor very well and is a good athlete. He is explosive off-the-dribble in the half-court, and can finish at the rim. He has shown the ability to see the floor off the bounce as well, and should utilize it more often. He is very nice prospect and another kid that would benefit from learning how to be more of a combo or lead guard.
David Robertson6'0 G Cary, NC
He has been solid all week. David is a very good shooter with tremendous court awareness. He has used shot fakes routinely to help get his shot off. He has gotten in trouble on a few drives, but maturity and learning how to create space for his jumpshot will come with time.
Matt Hillman 5'11 G Gaithersburg, MD
The lefty might not be very big, but he can flat out play. He has a sweet stroke from beyond the arc. But he is not only a shooter. Matt has shown ability to get into the paint and score over bigger defenders. Another kid with advanced basketball IQ, he is a pleasure to watch.
Justin Dotson 6'3 G SC
Listed from Alabama, Dotson said he now lives close to Clemson and the Tigers have showed early interest. He is strong and has showed well all weekend, no matter the matchup. He has a good jumper and a knack for finding his way to the cup. Once he gets there, he finishes plays off strong. Other schools better start taking notice.
Brent Scott6'0 G Fort Wayne, IN
Brent is a strong, physical guard that can score. He has a great feel for the game and a solid shooting stroke. Defenders have to respect the jumper, when they do this young man can put them on his hip and attack help defenders at the rim.
