COMPTON MAGIC ELITE/THE MAGIC (AZ) CO-CHAMPS at the MAGIC MEMORIAL DAY FESTIVAL by ADIDAS

It was an all Magic final again for the 2nd tournament in a row with Compton Magic Elite and The Magic(AZ) reaching the championship being named Co-Champs.

The tournament field included all of the top regional programs such as Compton Magic Elite, Belmont Shore, Dreamvision, The Magic(AZ), Rockfish, Gamepoint, AZ Pump N Run, Hi Five America, ICAN Allstars, Cali Rebels, Aim High, BTI, Dreamvision 16′s, San Diego Magic, Socal Soldiers, Belmont Shore Gold, MOC, Spirit Select, Buckets Academy and Paul George Elite.

When bracket play started things got crazy real early with two huge upsets in the Sweet 16 round of the bracket.  First, Belmont Shore got beat in dramatic fashion by a scrappy San Diego Magic crew.  A couple of courts over in the same round Dreamvision suffered a controversial loss to Gamepoint.  Dreamvision has added a big time new piece in 6-8 Anthony January to go along with studs Isaac Hamilton and Stephen Domingo.

The Elite 8 was set from that point consisting of Compton Magic Elite, Hi Five America, Gamepoint, Rockfish, The Magic(AZ), San Diego Magic, Aim High and BTI.   Compton Magic Elite emerged from the top side of the bracket and The Magic (AZ) from the bottom side.  If things would have gone according to plan final four matchups could have been Compton Magic Elite vs Dreamvision and Belmont Shore vs The Magic(AZ) which is what everyone was waiting to see.

Compton Magic 2015 claimed the 17U OPEN Division championship beating Pump N Run Elite 15U in a brawl all the way to the end.  Pump N Run Elite added big time point guard Jahmeel Taylor for the event since they were playing 17U but didn’t play him in the championship so that the 2 nationally ranked teams could battle it out fair and square.

Magic had the lead for most of the game until Pump N Run made a dramatic comeback featuring Tyler Burch and Jeremy Hemsley.  Magic pulled it out in the end with Sedrick Barefield nailing 2 clutch free throws that would put Magic 2015 ahead for good.

LV Prospects captured the 15/16U Combo Division crown in another nailbiter beating Team LAX 45-43.   The Prospects epitimize the word scrappy and tough.  This division included some really tough competition with teams such as Powerhouse (AZ), Hoopsessions, Gamepoint, BTI, Las Vegas Knicks (NV), Triple Threat, AZ Future (AZ) and Hi Five America.

Compton Magic 14U won the 14U Championship beating the Red Raiders from Northern California.  The Magic were never challenged by any opponent in the field as they cruised to easy victories all weekend including the championship.
