Champions Classic Recap
6’1 Arizona-bound point guard Brandon Jennings, the top rated senior in America, scored 36 points and dished out six assists as Oak Hill Academy (Va.) beat Veritas Christian (NC), 85-69 in the title game of the Champions Classic.
7’2 center Catalin Baciu, who has signed with Clemson, scored 22 points to lead Veritas Christian
We caught up with Oak Hill juniors Glenn Bryant (6'7 F), who scored 18 points, and Keith "Tiny" Gallon (6'8 PF), who scored 11 points, after the game and they each shed some light on their recruiting situations.
Bryant says that Syracuse, Memphis, Florida, Pitt and Marquette are the schools most involved as-of-late, although he plans to take his time before coming up with an official list of his "favorites". Gallon, on the other hand, seems a little further along in his process as he listed LSU as his favorite followed by UNLV, Texas A&M, Arizona and Baylor-- in that order.
Other highlights
*Covenant Christian (Ga.) played two games in-a-row on Saturday afternoon, and won both, as they beat Future Academy (NC), 75-47, before ousting Eduard Mont Petit (Canada), 55-37. 6’0 senior Darshtyn Baker combined for 42 points to lead Covenant Christian.
*A day after upsetting Patterson Prep (NC), Summit Prep (Ca.) turned in another impressive performance by thumping NC College Prep, 90-48. 6’9 Konner Veteto, who is an absolute steal for UC Riverside, led the winners with 22 points.
