Seth Curry Hoops Report’s National College Player of the Week.

By: Jeff Meadows

In one of the biggest games thus far this season he came off the bench to help his team overcome a 16 point deficit and pull out the victory followed by another very strong performance against Miami, Duke’s sophomore (SG) Seth Curry earns Hoops Report’s National Player of the Week. To start the week Curry had a big game against UNC scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist and the very next against Miami Curry once again came off the bench to give the Blue Devils a big lift scoring 16 points, grabbing 4 rebounds and stretching the defense by making 4-3ptr’s (was 4 of 7 behind the arc). Curry’s roll and minutes increased when Duke’s Fab Freshman (PG) Kyrie Irving suffered a season ending toe injury and since Irving’s injury Curry’s points, rebounds & assist has increased as well. The 2008-09 season, Curry averaged 20.4 pts per game, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assist at Liberty, Curry then sat out all of last season as a transfer from Liberty, this season Curry is averaging 9 pts and 2 rebounds per game. Curry comes from outstanding basketball lineage his father Dale is one of the NBA’s all time great 3 pt shooters and his brother Stephon (who plays for the Golden State Warriors) is currently one the top (CG’s) in the NBA. Curry (like his Father and brother) is a natural scorer whose very difficult to defend once he get’s going. Look for Curry to have solid performances against Georgia Tech and Temple this week and look for the Duke Blue Devils to make a deep run into the NCAA tournament.
