Mickey McConnell Hoops Report's National College "Player of the Week"

University of St. Mary’s 6’0 (PG) Mickey McConnell has been playing extremely for an extended period of time; Mickey has been playing so well as of late that he has earned Hoops Report’s National College Player of the Week. McConnell is picking up right where he left from last season when Mickey was a very iatrical part of St. Mary’s run late into the NCAA Tournament by upsetting #2 seed Villanova to advance to the Sweet Sixteen where they would fall short to the #3 seed Baylor Bears ending their season at 28–6. Mickey is the son Rick McConnell, who happens to be of 1 of top HS Basketball coaches in the history of Arizona HS Basketball at Mesa’s Dobson HS. Mickey is the master of moving & getting open without the ball, finding & picking his spots to torch the defense which is what he has been doing for St. Mary’s for the past 2 seasons. On December 29^th, Mickey scored 28 pts & dished out 13 assist in a 94-72 victory over Miss St. and on December 31^st, Mickey scored 21 pts and dished out 7 assist in another St. Mary’s 87-63 victory over Hartford. Mickey & his St. Mary’s team is off to another strong start (11-2) & I don’t see them slowing down any time soon as they are set to face off with Loyola Marymount tonight at 9pm Eastern time. Mickey is currently averaging 14.2 pts per game & 5.4 assist.
