Phoenix vs Tucson Showdown

By: Jeff Meadows

The question that’s been asked quite often as of late is “I wonder who has the better players Phoenix or Tucson?” Well, that question will finally be answered with this event. The Phoenix vs Tucson Showdown March 19-20 at Ironwood Ridge HS in Tucson, AZ is a two day tournament comprised of the top 13, 14, 15, 16 & 17U AAU/Club teams in the Phoenix Metro area & the Tucson Metro area. The Phoenix teams will be matched up against the Tucson teams in a two day showdown and the records of the Phoenix and Tucson teams will be tallied up at the end of the event to see which city reigns as the top grassroots basketball city in the state of Arizona. While last year Phoenix had players like: Royce Woolridge who signed with the Kansas Jayhawks & has not had much of an impact as of yet, you also have Karrick Felix who like Woolridge has played sparingly thus far for Arizona State University but its Tucson’s Terrel Stoglin who is a major contributor at the University of Maryland, Mike Perez who’s also a contributor for UTEP & Bryce Cotton who’s also a major contributor at Providence which is in the toughest conference in college basketball, the Big East, so one could argue the point that Tucson as of late has had more success but we can all find out for sure March 19-20 at the 1st Annual Phoenix vs Tucson. This is an event that has been a long time in the making and is sure to be one of Arizona’s top tournaments of the spring. Who will rein supreme as the Kings of Arizona Phoenix or Tucson?Hoops Report will be on hand to provide you with our SECOND TO NONE GAME/EVENT RECAP AND PLAYER EVALUATIONS.
