Dominique Dunning "Ready for the BIG TIME"

By: Jeff Meadows

In a state like California where the talent pool is huge sometimes good talent can be over looked. That had been the case for Dominique Dunning until now. At 6-5 Dominique has a high level scoring game and is a national sleeper that is beginning to receive the attention that he very well deserves. While Dominique had been over looked by the national scouting services colleges such as Stanford, Oregon State, Colorado, UNLV, Arizona State, Hawaii, Washington and many others began hot pursuit of Dominique. On offense, Dominique plays the point and on defense well, he guards the 1-5. Earlier this season Dominique’s Corona Centennial played against one of the top national high school powers, New Jersey’s St. Patrick’s who is led by the consensus #1  player/prospect in the class of 2011, 6’8 (F) Michael Gilcrest. It was a very close and competitive game until mid way through the 2nd half when Dominique picked up his fourth foul sending him to bench until 4 minutes to go in the 2nd half. St. Patrick's took advantage of Dominique being on the bench and pulled away sealing a 20 point victory. Dominique finished with 27 points 14 rebounds and 8 assist needless to say, that’s when coaches and national scouting services began to take notice. Behind the play of Dominique, the Corona Centennial Huskies are currently ranked #3 in the state of California and climbing. After deciding that he’d had enough of the recruiting process Dominique committed to play for Coach Steve Alford and the New Mexico Lobos. “I just felt that New Mexico was the place for me” said Dunning. “They call him Mr. Versatility” says Etop Udo-ema President of the Compton Magic AAU team. “This kid is unbelievably underrated but I’m sure that won’t be for long”. Dominique is currently averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steal per game. Here’s my scouting report on Dominique Dunning: Dunning is a BIG TIME wing who can also play point. Dominique has a super high basketball I.Q. and an unbelievable motor. Dominique is among the top 5-7 wings on the West Coast. Look for this young man’s ranking to increase drastically over the spring and summer. “We’re gonna finish the season real strong” says Dominique about his Corona Centennial team “And when the season ends that’s when the party begins” referencing to the spring and summer. After Dominique concludes his season, look for him to really shake things up on the national AAU circuit this spring and summer for a super loaded Compton Magic team that should be among the top 5 AAU programs in the country.
